Montana has become the first US state to completely ban the use of TikTok

Montana has become the first US state to completely ban the use of TikTok on the devices of ordinary citizens.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has signed into law a statewide ban on TikTok.

This law will be applicable from January 1, 2024.

The Republican governor has already banned the use of TikTok on official devices.

Now in a statement, he said that a complete ban on Tik Tok is necessary to protect citizens from spying by the Chinese Communist Party.

On the other hand, TikTok has said that this ban is a violation of the rights of citizens under the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

The company said that TikTok is used by millions of people in Montana and we will continue to work to protect their rights.

TikTok is likely to challenge the ban in court.

A bill to ban TikTok from citizens' devices was approved by Montana lawmakers in April 2023.

Under the law, it will be illegal for app stores to stock TikTok, but people who are already using the video-sharing app will not be banned.

It should be noted that several US states have banned the use of Tik Tok in official devices and it is considered a threat to national security.
